THE HABITAT



 
Open Spaces

Mission Statement:
  "The mission of the Pomfret Conservation Commission is to inventory and conserve Pomfret’s natural resources and open spaces and to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Selectmen and other municipal agencies."

     The Pomfret Conservation Commission was formed in 1999 and continues to provide resources and guidance for scenic road information, aquifer protection, recreation alternatives and encourages conservation of land in the town.

The Pomfret Conservation Commission will be presenting its sixth annual Lois Orswell Award for Environmental Awareness on June 11 at the Pomfret Audubon on Pomfret Street at 7:00 p.m.

The Conservation Commission's award ceremony will be in conjunction with The State of the Birds presentation. The recipients of the award are as follows: William MacLaren, Tyrone Farm; Paula Coughlin, Vernal Pool Project; and Mary Anthony, Conservation Awareness.
