Welcome to Pomfret, a lovely, rural, quiet town in Northeastern Connecticut which is referred to as the "quiet corner" of
the State.
Pomfret is predominately residential with some agriculture, home occupations, and light manufacturing in the cable,
fiber-optics and frozen food industries.
Pomfret
was incorporated in 1713 and has a total area of 40.6 square miles, approximately
52 miles of improved roads and 10 miles of unimproved (dirt) roads and a population
estimate of 3,836 as of 2003.
The Board
of Selectmen is grateful to the many citizens who serve on our various Boards,
Commissions and Committees, which
is why I have a favorite expression that says: "Pomfret is a good place to live
because good people live here".

Sincerely,
James S. Rivers,
